When you notice extreme comparisons (Nazis, Hitler, genocide) in a disagreement, treat it as a signal that the discussion has become unproductive. Don't use "Godwin's Law" to shut down valid historical analogy; use it to recognise when the analogy is lazy or weaponised. Reset the frame or exit.

"Has this discussion crossed into extreme comparisons (Nazis, etc.)? If yes, that's a signal about discourse quality, not proof of who's right. Consider pausing, reframing, or stepping back rather than doubling down."
