Strategy

You're seeing End Result when planning starts with “what does success look like in 12 months?” or “what would the customer say/do?” and the roadmap is derived backward from that, not from a list of features.

Product

You're seeing End Result when requirements and design are framed by the user’s end state (“they’ve completed X,” “they understand Y”) and features are justified by how they contribute to that state.

Execution

You're seeing End Result when teams use “pre-mortems” or “backward planning” — imagining the outcome achieved and then listing what had to happen — to set milestones and priorities.

Define the end result in observable terms: what the customer has, does, or believes; what the metric reads; what “done” looks like. Then work backward: what’s the step just before that?
