Decisions & Strategy

You're seeing Authority Bias when the room defers to the highest-ranking person or the "expert" without stress-testing the claim. The title does the persuading.

Investing & Advice

You're seeing Authority Bias when a recommendation is accepted because of who gave it (fund, analyst, founder) rather than the logic and evidence. Authority becomes a shortcut to agreement.

How to Use It

When you hear an authority, ask: what did they actually say, and what's the evidence? What are their incentives? Use structure (e.g. anonymous or blind input) when you want to reduce authority-driven deference. When you're the authority, invite challenge and separate your role from the argument.
