Visualization — mental rehearsal of a desired outcome or process — engages many of the same neural pathways as physical performance. Neuroimaging studies show that vividly imagining an action activates motor cortex regions similar to those used during actual execution. This makes visualization a form of low-cost practice: it reinforces technique, builds confidence, and pre-loads decision-making in high-pressure situations. Before any high-stakes event — a pitch, a negotiation, a product launch — spend 10–15 minutes in detailed mental rehearsal. Visualize the setting, the sequence of actions, likely challenges, and your specific responses. Include sensory detail: what you'll see, hear, and feel.
